Mixed-Media Treasure Map: Oct 1 @ 11am
Book Arts Fair Special Workshop! Includes a "Map-themed" book, all ages welcome, 1 hour
- Workshop Space
Service Description
Participants will create a large, whimsical treasure map, using a crayon-resist technique, colored pencil, ink, and watercolor, taught by local artist Melissa Lang. She teaches about line that leads our eye on a journey through obstacles and adventures, learning about the visual elements of line, shape, form, space, texture and pattern along the way. Because it's day of our Annual Book Arts Fair, this special workshop includes either The Boy Who Loved Maps by Kari Allen (hardcover picture book ideal for ages 4-8) or The Last Mapmaker by Christina Soontornvai (chapter book ideal for ages 9+). Our workshops are generally free of charge because we want them to be accessible to all children and families in our community. Please consider making a donation between $15-$35 when you register to keep our program sustainable. Donations pay for artists' time, supplies, and maintenance of our workshop space.
